Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is one of two multistate consortia awarded funding from U.S Dept of Education to develop an assessment system based on the new Common Core State Standards.

As a part of the design of the test. SBAC established four Claims regarding what students should know and be able to do in the domain of mathematics.

The Mathematics Assessment Program (MAP) is a collaboration between the University of California, Berkeley and the Shell Center team at the University of Nottingham, with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The team works with the Silicon Valley Mathematics Initiative and school systems across the US and UK to develop improved assessment. The materials from this project will exemplify CCSSM in explicit down-to-earth performance terms.
